British Innovator of the Year Award

The Innovator of the Year Award honours an outstanding innovator or team of innovators who through their efforts have contributed to significantly advancing their invention towards commercialization. This award recognizes outstanding commitment either through participation in the licensing process or through entrepreneurial efforts in a start-up company based on their invention.

British Inventor of the Year Award

The Inventor of the Year Award honours an outstanding inventor or team of inventors who have made a contribution to the development of innovation and invention that has the potential to make a significant impact. The award is given based on the criteria of creativity, novelty, and commercial potential or potential benefit to society.

British Young Inventors Award

Honours and recognised outstanding young inventors or team of young inventors who have made a contribution to the development of innovation and invention that has the potential to make a significant impact. The award is given based on the criteria of creativity, novelty, and commercial potential or potential benefit to society.

Selection Criteria

An internal committee will serve in selecting the Innovator & Inventor of the Year Awards. The Committee will be made up of members from diverse disciplines, many of whom are distinguished university professors. The Committee will review all nominations and deliberate on whom has shown outstanding commitment in developing a ground breaking invention.

The Committee will review nominations and their selection based on the following criteria for Innovator of the Year:

1) The nominee’s invention has impact and brings value to their field and society;
2) The nominee’s contribution to, and influence on, the field;
3) The nominee’s performance, creativity, and commitment demonstrated throughout the commercialization process;
4) The invention’s potential for further development and commercialization/adoption.

The Committee will review nominations for and their selection based on the following criteria for Inventor of the Year:

1) The nominee’s invention has potential to significantly impact and bring value to their field and society;
2) The nominee’s contribution to, and influence on, the field;
3) The nominee’s performance, creativity, and commitment demonstrated throughout the invention process;
4) The invention’s potential for further development and commercialization/adoption.
